About Us

About Us - Golden Eagle Lodge

Welcome! First a little about us. We are Golden Eagle Lodge, a private resort and campground in Minnesota, located 30 miles north of Grand Marais, on the Gunflint Trail. As the host of this website, we are hoping to provide information to the public about the various canoeing and hiking options around our little corner of the world. There are many beautiful day trips, or overnight trips, that can begin right from the lakefront of the lodge. Whether you’re looking to canoe or hike, you need not go far to find some of the most beautiful overlooks and vistas on Gunflint Trail.

Location

We are very fortunate to be the only resident on Flour Lake (that’s right, there are no other lakeside buildings or people out there except for us!) which spans nearly 3 miles in length and surfaces about 350 acres. With the east end adjacent the BWCA, your Boundary Waters adventures are only one lake’s paddle away.

Facilities

Plan you wilderness adventure with us! Golden Eagle Lodge offers 10 modern, lakefront cabins, each with a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. All our cabins also have their own private dock and charcoal grill. If you prefer to camp instead, try our 9-site private campground. Each site has water and electric hook ups, a picnic table, and fire ring. A dump station as well as a heated shower and bathhouse is also available. In addition to these, we also rent boats, motors, canoes, kayaks, and pontoons. For canoes, we have aluminum, royalex, and kevlar available.
