Thompson Falls is much lesser known waterfall. Located right nearby the trailhead for Eagle Mountain, this is a short 1/3 mile walk off Bally Creek Road. Due to its remote location, it is frequently done in conjunction with Eagle Mountain, offering an easy additional reward after completing the hike to Minnesota’s tallest peak.

There is parking for a few vehicles in a small pull-off parking area on the west side of Bally Creek Road. The path is obvious and starts right from the parking area. The trail reaches the top side of the waterfall. From here, you can walk alongside it, and depending on conditions, sometimes even cross over it. It is not particularly steep, but cascades over a large distance of exposed rock. Thompson Falls is a unique waterfall for the area and is a nice spot to escape crowds.
